I Don't Want My Pictures on Social Media or Online, is That Possible?
A number of times over the years, just once in a while, I get a request to keep a potential client's photos off social media and my blog. How do I, as the photographer, feel about this?
I completely and utterly understand not wanting photos online! Especially when it comes to your children, you may not want to have those photos in plain sight for just anyone to see. Also your privacy is very important, and you may simply wish not to have your photos online.
I always work along with a client - if they prefer to keep...
Wedding Photography Packages
The first thing people usually ask me when they get in touch is what are my prices and packages. Obviously a very important part of booking a wedding photographer!
My main package is a full day package. Most couples prefer to have someone cover photography from bride prep (sometimes groom prep too if he's nearby!) the ceremony, wedding breakfast and the evening reception until just after the First Dance. I do get variations on this package though which is why I'm always happy to tailor a package to suit each couple. Some brides and grooms have requested:...
Wedding Photography Styles
Styles of photography can vary from photographer to photographer. Everyone has their own way of shooting, but there are two very important styles of wedding photography. Traditional vs documentary. Back before camera phones and digital cameras, posing for photos was the go-to. Every photo carefully thought out and staged, the photographer could be certain they got the shot they needed. Today documentary style photography is much more common.
True documentary style wedding photographers don't provide any posed photos, and they give a fly on the wall point of view....
Are you planning your dream wedding and wondering how long you should hire a wedding photographer for? This is an important question to consider as your wedding photographs will capture the memories of your special day for a lifetime. I am often asked to photograph partial wedding days. This is such an important option, especially for much smaller weddings where some sections of the day may not be as important to the bride and groom. Some couples don't want getting ready photos or there isn't a big evening reception to capture.
I confess I adore joining couples from bride prep to just...
Natural Wedding Photography
The biggest compliment I've ever had as a wedding photographer is to be called a ninja! This has been mentioned to me by at least three different couples over the many years I've been shooting weddings. They said I was so discreet when capturing the day, they hardly noticed I was there. This is honestly the biggest compliment! A wedding day is all about the bride and groom, and shouldn't be about the photographer. By allowing a wedding to flow naturally and by being that fly on the wall for a majority of the day, you can capture a wedding day as it happens. These natural...
Natural Moments | Documentary Wedding Photographer Lancashire
Sometimes the light at a wedding is just right, and a magical moment happens right before your eyes. The photos can end up looking just like a painting, and the result is magic. No Photoshop necessary. One of these favourite moments was a photo of this gorgeous little girl who was grabbing on her Mummy's wedding dress. A beam of light was on her face. I bent down to take the shot, and that angle was just right. It looks magical! I love hearing what others think of this photo. They see a daughter dreaming of one day becoming a bride....
Portmeirion Wedding Photographer Wales
Working as a wedding photographer has always been an adventure taking me to many places I never expected to go. I have had the pleasure of shooting weddings abroad twice in both Italy and Spain, and I frequently get to travel up to Scotland and to Wales to join couples for their special day, as well as the whole of the UK. One of my absolute favourite venues to visit is Portmeirion which is a village created to look like a little Italian town. It sits on the hillside next to the sea, and the views are always so beautiful. It's easy to actually feel...
Chris & Charlotte | Linthwaite House Wedding Photographer
The beautiful Charlotte and Chris chose to have their perfect wedding at the equally perfect wedding venue Linthwaite House in Windermere, Cumbria. It was a joy to join them both for the stunningly sunny day, which provided the perfect atmosphere for the couple and guests to fully enjoy their day. It was one wedding filled with some lovely touches, including Charlotte's incredible designer wedding dress by Jesus Peiro. She wanted something that wasn't too fussy, it certainly was perfect, and the pockets and bow made the dress.
It's...
Top 30 Wedding Photographs of 2014 | Karli Harrison Photography
What a year it has been! The emotions were high- the laughter, the tears, the joy. So many wonderful couples asked me to join them in 5 different countries. Besides the beautiful English, Scottish and Welsh weddings, my little family and I travelled to Italy and Spain which was nothing short of amazing. Despite the complication of a stress fracture in three places in my foot which had me in a walking cast for work for over 6 months, not a single wedding was cancelled which was quite an accomplishment! I have my family to thank...
Emma & Tim Sneak Peek | The Merewood Wedding Photography Cumbria
My first wedding of 2014 has come and gone. I had the pleasure of photographing Emma and Tim's gorgeous wedding day last weekend at the Merewood in Cumbria. It was a day full of much love and laughter, and despite the heavens opening up with rain as soon as we reached Cumbria, our spirits weren't dampened and we all had a lovely time.
Every once in a while I get a shot that stands out, and this one certainly did, which is why I chose it as their sneak peek! It was taken during the first dance, and I think it simply...
