I had the pleasure of joining up with Sarah as she was getting ready on her wedding day. As soon as I walked through the door I could feel such a happy, relaxed atmosphere. Obviously a wedding day is always a joyous occasion, but on Sarah’s day it was clear that the party had already started! This made her wedding photography easy for me, as everyone was clearly enjoying themselves and forgetting I was there. This allowed me to capture more natural pictures, which I love to do. I've done a couple weddings where the environment was very calm, and quite a few where everyone is incredibly excited....
Shropshire Wedding Photography, Rowton Castle
This was a wedding that I was looking forward to for a long time. When I heard that it was going to be taking place in the stunning Rowton Castle, I got very excited. Maybe because the word castle brings out my childhood fantasies. Maybe because David and Helen are a lovely couple, and that really does make the world of difference.
A few weeks before the wedding, I received a message from Helen, saying that she has seen the work from my recent weddings, and that she was so pleased that I was going to be doing her photos for her. This just sums up the type...
Lake District Wedding Photography, Linthwaite House Hotel
I love pre- wedding shoots. They allow me to get to know the couple before their big day, and it also helps the couple to see how I work. Because of this, they feel more comfortable with me on their wedding day, which allows me to capture more beautifully natural pictures.
I met up with Trish and Rich before their wedding day, at the stunning Linthwaite House Hotel, Cumbria. It was interesting viewing the location before the big day. It's still one of my favourite venues that I've had the privilege of doing wedding photography at! The...
Meg and Chris are one of those couples that you instantly warm to. From the very start, they were an absolute pleasure to be around, and I was incredibly excited to be capturing their wedding photography for them! Their day was a stunning one, the weather was absolutely perfect. The mood from the moment we walked into the house was relaxed and happy, and the party had already started. I enjoy this type of environment, as it makes my job so much easier when everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves. They easily forget I'm there so I can capture natural pictures.
The Isla Gladstone in Liverpool...
This photograph is probably my ultimate favourite that I have taken to date, capturing wedding photography. I hope the image speaks for itself. It's one of those shots that looks like it was set up in a studio, but it was actually a spur of the moment, natural documentary style shot. The little girl happened to look up at her Mummy, the bride, and the light above her hit her face just perfectly. I bent down, and the angle was just right to capture her gazing up at the bride. I won't tell you the full story as I don't want to spoil the magic of the shot, as I love how this one really plays on the imagination!...
How important are business cards? Well, they are one item that I decided to invest in near the birth of my wedding photography business, and it's been a great buy. I use a company called Moo.com, and I've never looked back. I can't rave about them enough, they are very professional, offer a wide range of personalised business cards, and have a quick dispatch time too. They also offer personalised stickers which are great for logos for packaging things like prints.
Having a little mini portfolio carried around with me has been fantastic for my business, and obviously it gives a good impression...
I recently had the pleasure of working at a Bartle Hall wedding, which isn't too far from my home base. The day was a beautiful one, and it was interesting to work in a venue where I'm usually a guest!
Unfortunately the weather was very stormy, during bridal preparation there was thunder, lightening, hail stones, and torrential rain... not exactly what every bride hopes for on their wedding day! But everyone was very positive and the weather certainly didn't spoil the mood of the wedding.
Thankfully the weather eased up, and by the time the wedding ceremony was finished, the sun was starting...
I had the pleasure of capturing Tom and Julia's Inglewood Manor wedding photography. The stunning Inglewood is located in Cheshire, set in beautiful grounds perfect for wedding photography. The day was a gorgeous one, full of personal touches including one incredible castle cake, and a live band playing Irish music. I believe it's often people that make the day, you can have a wedding in a stunning wedding venue, but it's the happiness, closeness and friendliness of the couple and their guests that give it real atmosphere. And this wedding certainly had that! As soon as the band started playing,...
Cumbria Wedding Photography | Lake District Documentary Wedding Photographer
Laughter. Tears. Joy. A touch of sadness. These are just a few of the emotions I have the pleasure of photographing working as a wedding photographer. In days gone past, photos would be incredibly posed. "Stop, look at me! Smile at the camera!" The problem with telling someone to smile is they often pull an awkward face, or maybe at the best of times pull a stiff smile.
I work as hard as I can to capture wedding days as beautifully and artistically as possible, but the most important key factor for me is to be in the right...
Sneak Peek | Wales Wedding Photography Criccieth
It was with great pleasure that I joined up with the stunning Michelle & Rob for their wedding last weekend in the beautiful seaside town of Criccieth, North Wales. They got married in the picturesque hotel called Mynydd Ednyfed, and asked to have their couples portraits on Criccieth beach.
The wedding day itself was beautiful, despite it being a scorcher of a day everyone was in good spirits. Rob, Michelle and I set off at the start of 'golden hour' for our beach adventure, first stopping in a field full of long grass at the end of Mynydd...
