Cumbria Wedding Photography
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working as Chris and Kelly's wedding photographer in the gorgeous Abbey House Hotel in Barrow-in-furness, Cumbria. The day was an emotional one, just one look at groom Chris as Kelly walked up the aisle, and you could see how moved he was to see his bride. I love looking at the groom when all other eyes are on the bride, the emotion is truly beautiful! Kelly was the epitome of the radiant bride, she was beaming throughout the whole day. It was no wonder Chris looked so moved! It's little moments like this that still pull at my heart,...
One thing couples want to see when checking out wedding photographers is a portfolio. Many people are happy to view this online, and in this modern society it's easy, quick and convenient. But some people prefer to see albums in front of them, and I have to say, it's amazing viewing photographs in print. They truly come to life on the pages of an album. I have a couple of albums that I take along with me to potential client meetings. One is simply meant as a portfolio of my best images from last year's weddings, and the other one is a sample of the albums available to my clients if they are wanting...
I had the pleasure of joining up with Sarah as she was getting ready on her wedding day. As soon as I walked through the door I could feel such a happy, relaxed atmosphere. Obviously a wedding day is always a joyous occasion, but on Sarah’s day it was clear that the party had already started! This made her wedding photography easy for me, as everyone was clearly enjoying themselves and forgetting I was there. This allowed me to capture more natural pictures, which I love to do. I've done a couple weddings where the environment was very calm, and quite a few where everyone is incredibly excited....
Shropshire Wedding Photography, Rowton Castle
This was a wedding that I was looking forward to for a long time. When I heard that it was going to be taking place in the stunning Rowton Castle, I got very excited. Maybe because the word castle brings out my childhood fantasies. Maybe because David and Helen are a lovely couple, and that really does make the world of difference.
A few weeks before the wedding, I received a message from Helen, saying that she has seen the work from my recent weddings, and that she was so pleased that I was going to be doing her photos for her. This just sums up the type...
Lake District Wedding Photography, Linthwaite House Hotel
I love pre- wedding shoots. They allow me to get to know the couple before their big day, and it also helps the couple to see how I work. Because of this, they feel more comfortable with me on their wedding day, which allows me to capture more beautifully natural pictures.
I met up with Trish and Rich before their wedding day, at the stunning Linthwaite House Hotel, Cumbria. It was interesting viewing the location before the big day. It's still one of my favourite venues that I've had the privilege of doing wedding photography at! The...
I love engagement shoots, because I get a chance to meet a couple before their big day. It's a huge benefit to both myself and the engaged couple, as they get to see how I work with a camera. I can also see how the couple feel in front of the camera. Some people love it, constantly smiling and relaxed. Some are obviously less comfortable, which is good to know before the wedding day so I can reassure them that I will be capturing mostly natural photographs. I like to keep things as relaxed as possible, and to keep posing to a bare minimum.
When I met with Sandy and Jon for their pre wedding...
Meg and Chris are one of those couples that you instantly warm to. From the very start, they were an absolute pleasure to be around, and I was incredibly excited to be capturing their wedding photography for them! Their day was a stunning one, the weather was absolutely perfect. The mood from the moment we walked into the house was relaxed and happy, and the party had already started. I enjoy this type of environment, as it makes my job so much easier when everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves. They easily forget I'm there so I can capture natural pictures.
The Isla Gladstone in Liverpool...
This photograph is probably my ultimate favourite that I have taken to date, capturing wedding photography. I hope the image speaks for itself. It's one of those shots that looks like it was set up in a studio, but it was actually a spur of the moment, natural documentary style shot. The little girl happened to look up at her Mummy, the bride, and the light above her hit her face just perfectly. I bent down, and the angle was just right to capture her gazing up at the bride. I won't tell you the full story as I don't want to spoil the magic of the shot, as I love how this one really plays on the imagination!...
How important are business cards? Well, they are one item that I decided to invest in near the birth of my wedding photography business, and it's been a great buy. I use a company called Moo.com, and I've never looked back. I can't rave about them enough, they are very professional, offer a wide range of personalised business cards, and have a quick dispatch time too. They also offer personalised stickers which are great for logos for packaging things like prints.
Having a little mini portfolio carried around with me has been fantastic for my business, and obviously it gives a good impression...
Every so often a friend of mine asks me to take some pictures for them, and it's always extra special when they ask for some portraits of their children. I've done newborn photography before, but when this particular friend asked me to capture some images of her son, I was thrilled. It was a real privilege to take these photographs for them, as they have been through much heartache but at the end they have two gorgeous children.
Newborn photography always brings challenges. For one, I like to always take the pictures indoors. This can make light challenging, so I usually ask if I can turn...
