I Don't Want My Pictures on Social Media or Online, is That Possible?
A number of times over the years, just once in a while, I get a request to keep a potential client's photos off social media and my blog. How do I, as the photographer, feel about this?
I completely and utterly understand not wanting photos online! Especially when it comes to your children, you may not want to have those photos in plain sight for just anyone to see. Also your privacy is very important, and you may simply wish not to have your photos online.
I always work along with a client - if they prefer to keep...
Wedding Photography Packages
The first thing people usually ask me when they get in touch is what are my prices and packages. Obviously a very important part of booking a wedding photographer!
My main package is a full day package. Most couples prefer to have someone cover photography from bride prep (sometimes groom prep too if he's nearby!) the ceremony, wedding breakfast and the evening reception until just after the First Dance. I do get variations on this package though which is why I'm always happy to tailor a package to suit each couple. Some brides and grooms have requested:...
Is Wedding Photography Hard?
Many people assume that wedding photographers show up on a wedding day, stand around and take photographs and that's their job. Simple! The truth? There is SO much more to it than you might think!
Wedding photographers spend much more time on the admin side of their business than the actual shooting photographs. A few examples:
We correspond with potential and booked clients. Getting in touch and replying by email, texts and phone calls. Sometimes in person client meetings when requested and video calls.
We work on our website - blogging, adding...
Wedding Photography Styles
Styles of photography can vary from photographer to photographer. Everyone has their own way of shooting, but there are two very important styles of wedding photography. Traditional vs documentary. Back before camera phones and digital cameras, posing for photos was the go-to. Every photo carefully thought out and staged, the photographer could be certain they got the shot they needed. Today documentary style photography is much more common.
True documentary style wedding photographers don't provide any posed photos, and they give a fly on the wall point of view....
Are you planning your dream wedding and wondering how long you should hire a wedding photographer for? This is an important question to consider as your wedding photographs will capture the memories of your special day for a lifetime. I am often asked to photograph partial wedding days. This is such an important option, especially for much smaller weddings where some sections of the day may not be as important to the bride and groom. Some couples don't want getting ready photos or there isn't a big evening reception to capture.
I confess I adore joining couples from bride prep to just...
Natural Wedding Photography
The biggest compliment I've ever had as a wedding photographer is to be called a ninja! This has been mentioned to me by at least three different couples over the many years I've been shooting weddings. They said I was so discreet when capturing the day, they hardly noticed I was there. This is honestly the biggest compliment! A wedding day is all about the bride and groom, and shouldn't be about the photographer. By allowing a wedding to flow naturally and by being that fly on the wall for a majority of the day, you can capture a wedding day as it happens. These natural...
Becky & James | Wedding Photography Nunsmere Hall Photographer Cheshire
Meet the gorgeous Becky and James! They were recently married at the stunning wedding venue Nunsmere Hall in Cheshire.
The wedding was at Nunsmere all day, and despite a tiny bit of rain in the morning it later cleared to give Becky and James some glorious sunshine for their photos. The evening reception took place in a large marquee at the back of the venue, which was full of stunning white floral displays and candles on tables. Some of the tables were decked with trees covered in white blossoms, it was simply magical....
Amy & Pete | Floral Media Wedding Photographer Nottinghamshire
Amy and Pete were married a few weeks ago in Gretna Green, Scotland in a little elopement ceremony which I had the pleasure of photographing with them. They decided to have a larger wedding reception at a later date for their family and friends at the stunning venue Floral Media in Caunton, Notthinghamshire. It was fun to catch up and work with them again, and to capture their memories with their family and friends as they partied into the night. Floral Media is such a perfect wedding venue, with stunning gardens and a pretty...
Jenna & Tom | Comlongon Castle Wedding Photographer Scotland
Tom and Jenna were married at the stunning Comlongon Castle in Scotland on a sunny Autumn day. It was a unique, intimate wedding which was incredibly relaxed. The castle provided the perfect cosy atmosphere for everyone to enjoy themselves in comfort. Jenna and Tom had put a lot of thought into the details of the day, which were a pleasure to capture along with the natural moments.
Outdoors there were ponies and foals in the field behind the castle, it really was picture perfect! The castle itself is always a stunning backdrop...
Palm House | Wedding Photographer Sefton Park, Liverpool
As a wedding photographer one of the most exciting parts of the job is finding some amazing venues. One of my all time favourites has the be Palm House in Sefton Park, Liverpool. It's a location I've had the privilege of working at a few times, and I look forward to working there again soon!
The Palm House is a Grade II listed building, a three tiered glass Victorian Conservatory. It was recently restored after lying in ruins for years, and it gives one of the most impressive backgrounds for a wedding. Offering so much beautiful light,...
