Liverpool Wedding Photography Sefton Park, Alicia Hotel
I had the pleasure of joining Leigh and Matthew as their wedding photographer a few weeks ago for their beautiful day at Slicia Hotel, Sefton Park in Liverpool. Leigh had mentioned that she wanted natural pictures, which is right up my street! There is nothing I love more than shooting a wedding from the background, capturing moments in a more photo journalistic style as it makes for beautifully natural pictures. I don't mind doing the odd posed picture at a wedding, after all, it is about what the couple want. But I do admit that I prefer...
One of the joys of this job is being able to take part in the most memorable times in peoples lives. I've had the privilege of capturing engagements, weddings, newborn, children and family portraits, but maternity photography was a first for me. I was really excited when I was asked to do this shoot, as I know what an exciting and incredibly special time of life pregnancy is.
For the maternity shoot we travelled to the beach at St Annes, Lancashire. The weather was absolutely glorious. We were able to take a stroll on the beach itself, and also have a few photographs taken in a field next to the shore....
I met up with the lovely Mandy and Jamie for their pre wedding photography session at a scenic spot in Lancaster. The couple are soon going to have their wedding at the stunning West Tower, which they are obviously excited about!
The evening I met up with Mandy and Jamie, it was going dark, so there was very little time to capture their pictures. We went for a walk along a gorgeous river, and through some fields where I ended up laying flat on the ground shooting through the grass, which I love to do as it creatives such an interesting perspective. Even though it was going dark, there was a nice...
Cumbria Wedding Photography
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working as Chris and Kelly's wedding photographer in the gorgeous Abbey House Hotel in Barrow-in-furness, Cumbria. The day was an emotional one, just one look at groom Chris as Kelly walked up the aisle, and you could see how moved he was to see his bride. I love looking at the groom when all other eyes are on the bride, the emotion is truly beautiful! Kelly was the epitome of the radiant bride, she was beaming throughout the whole day. It was no wonder Chris looked so moved! It's little moments like this that still pull at my heart,...
One thing couples want to see when checking out wedding photographers is a portfolio. Many people are happy to view this online, and in this modern society it's easy, quick and convenient. But some people prefer to see albums in front of them, and I have to say, it's amazing viewing photographs in print. They truly come to life on the pages of an album. I have a couple of albums that I take along with me to potential client meetings. One is simply meant as a portfolio of my best images from last year's weddings, and the other one is a sample of the albums available to my clients if they are wanting...
I had the pleasure of joining up with Sarah as she was getting ready on her wedding day. As soon as I walked through the door I could feel such a happy, relaxed atmosphere. Obviously a wedding day is always a joyous occasion, but on Sarah’s day it was clear that the party had already started! This made her wedding photography easy for me, as everyone was clearly enjoying themselves and forgetting I was there. This allowed me to capture more natural pictures, which I love to do. I've done a couple weddings where the environment was very calm, and quite a few where everyone is incredibly excited....
Shropshire Wedding Photography, Rowton Castle
This was a wedding that I was looking forward to for a long time. When I heard that it was going to be taking place in the stunning Rowton Castle, I got very excited. Maybe because the word castle brings out my childhood fantasies. Maybe because David and Helen are a lovely couple, and that really does make the world of difference.
A few weeks before the wedding, I received a message from Helen, saying that she has seen the work from my recent weddings, and that she was so pleased that I was going to be doing her photos for her. This just sums up the type...
Lake District Wedding Photography, Linthwaite House Hotel
I love pre- wedding shoots. They allow me to get to know the couple before their big day, and it also helps the couple to see how I work. Because of this, they feel more comfortable with me on their wedding day, which allows me to capture more beautifully natural pictures.
I met up with Trish and Rich before their wedding day, at the stunning Linthwaite House Hotel, Cumbria. It was interesting viewing the location before the big day. It's still one of my favourite venues that I've had the privilege of doing wedding photography at! The...
I love engagement shoots, because I get a chance to meet a couple before their big day. It's a huge benefit to both myself and the engaged couple, as they get to see how I work with a camera. I can also see how the couple feel in front of the camera. Some people love it, constantly smiling and relaxed. Some are obviously less comfortable, which is good to know before the wedding day so I can reassure them that I will be capturing mostly natural photographs. I like to keep things as relaxed as possible, and to keep posing to a bare minimum.
When I met with Sandy and Jon for their pre wedding...
Meg and Chris are one of those couples that you instantly warm to. From the very start, they were an absolute pleasure to be around, and I was incredibly excited to be capturing their wedding photography for them! Their day was a stunning one, the weather was absolutely perfect. The mood from the moment we walked into the house was relaxed and happy, and the party had already started. I enjoy this type of environment, as it makes my job so much easier when everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves. They easily forget I'm there so I can capture natural pictures.
