Worried About Rain On Your Wedding Day? | Wedding Photographer UK

Most couples book their wedding months, if not years, in advance to the big day. The British weather is certainly unpredictable (don’t we all know it!) and whatever the time of year, rain is always a possibility. It’s often a big worry on a bride’s mind.

A few tips that can help with your pre-wedding weather jitters:

• Ensure you have some umbrellas to hand. It may seem obvious, but I always carry around some large cream umbrellas in the boot of my car, just in case. It’s one less thing for brides to think about, and in actual fact I’ve rarely had to use them! Maybe they keep the rain away…
• Choose a photographer who knows what to do. A good and experienced photographer knows what to do in both low light situations and wet conditions. We would all prefer perfect light and dry conditions to make some magic, but sometimes we have to work a bit harder to create it.
• Lastly, much easier said than done, but don’t worry about what you can’t change. Delegate what you can, and let your photographer worry about the weather. If they are experienced they will find the best light, and somewhere dry to take the photos. At the end of the day, even if it is a washout, it’s all about you and your new spouse. You will still be left with wonderful memories spent with your loved ones, and some beautiful photographs to cherish.

My absolute favourite image from my 2017 weddings has to be this one of the wonderful Matt and Becky. This gorgeous couple had a bit of rain but we used it to our advantage. Who said rain on your wedding day has to be bad news for your photography?! Why not use it to make some rainbows.
