Are you planning your dream wedding and wondering how long you should hire a wedding photographer for? This is an important question to consider as your wedding photographs will capture the memories of your special day for a lifetime. I am often asked to photograph partial wedding days. This is such an important option, especially for much smaller weddings where some sections of the day may not be as important to the bride and groom. Some couples don't want getting ready photos or there isn't a big evening reception to capture.
I confess I adore joining couples from bride prep to just...
Alison and Scott’s wedding was a true pleasure to photograph. Their day was stylish, laid back and very them, and I’m so glad I was able to join them and capture their memories for them as their wedding photographer. We started off the day at Alison's Hair Salon called Meheanos in Blackburn, where Alison and a her bridesmaids were getting their hair and make-up done. I could tell how proud Alison's family are of her as she had built this business and worked so hard, and it had paid off. I certainly enjoyed the different environment to shoot her wedding photography bridal preparations, as there...
I spend most of my time working as a wedding photographer, travelling all over the UK. But as many wedding photographers find, weddings seem to go through patches where you have loads together, then nothing for a few weeks or sometimes months. Usually in these quieter periods I get enquiries for Lifestyle family shoots and newborn sessions and I love it! It's such a refreshing change. I am still doing what I love, but mixing it up a bit.
My usual style for a lifestyle shoot is to take kids to a park and let them run around, laugh, and play. But obviously with a newborn session, taking the photographs...
I recently met up with Chris and Emma and their gorgeous kids Kai and Nyah for a lifestyle photo shoot. We used Ashton Park in Preston,Lancashire to give us some green background, and to let the kids have some space to play. I'm used to working as a wedding photographer, which I love, but I do enjoying lifestyle portrait sessions almost as much. I was excited about this shoot as I just LOVE letting kids charge around big open spaces such as grassy fields. But adding to the fun they also have a new dalmatian puppy called Lulu. I can honestly say that at times, a family session can be just as stressful...
I had previously met up with Sandy and Jon twice before their wedding day, so when the big day arrived, it felt like we were friends. This makes it more enjoyable for all involved on the wedding day, as they feel comfortable with me, so are more likely to relax in front of the camera. Or even forget I'm there! They are a lovely couple. When you first meet them, you can instantly see how in love they are. I love this, as it makes it a dream to capture their wedding photography for them!
Their wedding reception took place at the stunning West Tower wedding venue. I have had the pleasure of working...
Kew Gardens Wedding Photography / Videography - London
A few months ago I had the pleasure of working as second videographer at a wedding in London, Kew Gardens It was an amazing experience! Besides shooting the wedding in such a gorgeous venue at Kew Gardens, we ended up riding a golf cart around the gardens for the couples wedding photography / videography portraits before the light went. We managed to get some stunning footage before it went dark, much to our relief. The gardens are stunning, I hope to go back and enjoy them properly some day when I'll have more time to explore the grounds....
Comparison is the thief of joy. We read about it on the internet... on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest. It's one of those little motivational sayings you see from time to time.
I can't be alone in saying that every so often I come across work by a wedding photographer and I am in awe, but at the same time I am left feeling completely and utterly rubbish. Thankfully this doesn't happen much and I'm usually inspired and motivated by what I see. But when the negative mood hits, it can certainly knock my confidence.
Another saying I have come across is that 'the only photographer you should compare...
One thing I learned quickly about working as a wedding photographer is that you have to expect the unexpected on a wedding day. Equipment can really help you in tricky situations, and having a decent bag to protect your gear and carry it around is essential. Most bags I’ve seen are very manly looking, and I was after a beautiful bag that looked more like a handbag, one that I could wear over my shoulder or with the longer shoulder strap to have easy access to extra lenses. Enter the wonderful world of Epiphanie bags from the USA. Not only are they gorgeous to look at, they are padded inside...
It is with much excitement (and a bit of disbelief) that I write this little blog post to announce that I have had the honour of winning The Wedding Community’s competition ‘Picture of the Month’.
When my picture was chosen as ‘Picture of the Day’ I never thought that I’d win the competition that followed. I was up against some stunning shots. So when I received an email at 12:04pm (yes, how sad is it that the competition closed at 12:00pm, and I recall the email was at 12:04 exact) I got quite a shock!! It was a lovely and unexpected surprise.
I just want to say a massive thank...
Liverpool Wedding Photography - Suites Hotel
Jemma and Keith’s wedding day took place at the Suites Hotel Knowsley in Liverpool. The day was a beautiful one and everyone was lovely, including the staff! The only thing that didn’t quite go to plan was the weather!! But despite this, it seemed to work in our favour. We used their beautiful bridal suite for the couples portraits, and got some pictures that we would have missed out on if the day had been a dry one. That’s one thing I love about weddings, sometimes what first appears to be a disadvantage can actually turn out in your favour....
