I had the privilege of joining the lovely Jenna Carpenter Photography in capturing the Cumbria wedding photography of Catriona and Tristan. She had asked me to help photograph their day, and I was more than happy to accept! I have worked with Jenna a couple of times before, and we always have a wonderful time. The morning was a very relaxed one, starting off with a delicious looking breakfast of salmon and bagels in the family home. The house is simply gorgeous, set in the beautiful Lake District. The family are very musical and run a company from their own home. Music was very much a strong theme...
The stunning Isla Gladstone is located in Liverpool on the edge of Stanley Park, and is a beautiful wedding venue. It's always been one of my favourite venues to work at, as it's a perfect location for wedding photography. The building which is a massive glass conservatory was bulit in 1870. No matter what the weather is doing in Liverpool, low light is never a problem. In very sunny conditions, the harsh glare from the glass ceiling is defused by the white cloth hanging from the roof.
The day I worked as a wedding photographer for Chris and Meg at Isla Gladstone, the weather was a mixture...
One thing couples want to see when checking out wedding photographers is a portfolio. Many people are happy to view this online, and in this modern society it's easy, quick and convenient. But some people prefer to see albums in front of them, and I have to say, it's amazing viewing photographs in print. They truly come to life on the pages of an album. I have a couple of albums that I take along with me to potential client meetings. One is simply meant as a portfolio of my best images from last year's weddings, and the other one is a sample of the albums available to my clients if they are wanting...
Meg and Chris are one of those couples that you instantly warm to. From the very start, they were an absolute pleasure to be around, and I was incredibly excited to be capturing their wedding photography for them! Their day was a stunning one, the weather was absolutely perfect. The mood from the moment we walked into the house was relaxed and happy, and the party had already started. I enjoy this type of environment, as it makes my job so much easier when everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves. They easily forget I'm there so I can capture natural pictures.

This photograph is probably my ultimate favourite that I have taken to date, capturing wedding photography. I hope the image speaks for itself. It's one of those shots that looks like it was set up in a studio, but it was actually a spur of the moment, natural documentary style shot. The little girl happened to look up at her Mummy, the bride, and the light above her hit her face just perfectly. I bent down, and the angle was just right to capture her gazing up at the bride. I won't tell you the full story as I don't want to spoil the magic of the shot, as I love how this one really plays on the imagination!...
