Every so often a friend of mine asks me to take some pictures for them, and it’s always extra special when they ask for some portraits of their children. I’ve done newborn photography before, but when this particular friend asked me to capture some images of her son, I was thrilled. It was a real privilege to take these photographs for them, as they have been through much heartache but at the end they have two gorgeous children.

Newborn photography always brings challenges. For one, I like to always take the pictures indoors. This can make light challenging, so I usually ask if I can turn a chair or sofa towards a window. The natural light produced, even on a cloudy day, can make some beautiful pictures.

This little boy decided he would not curl up for me!! He liked to stretch out. One thing I have learned is to always go with the flow, if you have ideas in your head, they may not work out, but just roll with it. Doing this, I managed to capture some special baby portraits for them.
