This photograph is probably my ultimate favourite that I have taken to date, capturing wedding photography. I hope the image speaks for itself. It's one of those shots that looks like it was set up in a studio, but it was actually a spur of the moment, natural documentary style shot. The little girl happened to look up at her Mummy, the bride, and the light above her hit her face just perfectly. I bent down, and the angle was just right to capture her gazing up at the bride. I won't tell you the full story as I don't want to spoil the magic of the shot, as I love how this one really plays on the imagination!...
How important are business cards? Well, they are one item that I decided to invest in near the birth of my wedding photography business, and it's been a great buy. I use a company called Moo.com, and I've never looked back. I can't rave about them enough, they are very professional, offer a wide range of personalised business cards, and have a quick dispatch time too. They also offer personalised stickers which are great for logos for packaging things like prints.
Having a little mini portfolio carried around with me has been fantastic for my business, and obviously it gives a good impression...
I recently had the pleasure of working at a Bartle Hall wedding, which isn't too far from my home base. The day was a beautiful one, and it was interesting to work in a venue where I'm usually a guest!
Unfortunately the weather was very stormy, during bridal preparation there was thunder, lightening, hail stones, and torrential rain... not exactly what every bride hopes for on their wedding day! But everyone was very positive and the weather certainly didn't spoil the mood of the wedding.
Thankfully the weather eased up, and by the time the wedding ceremony was finished, the sun was starting...
I had the pleasure of capturing Tom and Julia's Inglewood Manor wedding photography. The stunning Inglewood is located in Cheshire, set in beautiful grounds perfect for wedding photography. The day was a gorgeous one, full of personal touches including one incredible castle cake, and a live band playing Irish music. I believe it's often people that make the day, you can have a wedding in a stunning wedding venue, but it's the happiness, closeness and friendliness of the couple and their guests that give it real atmosphere. And this wedding certainly had that! As soon as the band started playing,...
Cumbria Wedding Photography | Lake District Documentary Wedding Photographer
Laughter. Tears. Joy. A touch of sadness. These are just a few of the emotions I have the pleasure of photographing working as a wedding photographer. In days gone past, photos would be incredibly posed. "Stop, look at me! Smile at the camera!" The problem with telling someone to smile is they often pull an awkward face, or maybe at the best of times pull a stiff smile.
I work as hard as I can to capture wedding days as beautifully and artistically as possible, but the most important key factor for me is to be in the right...
Sneak Peek | Wales Wedding Photography Criccieth
It was with great pleasure that I joined up with the stunning Michelle & Rob for their wedding last weekend in the beautiful seaside town of Criccieth, North Wales. They got married in the picturesque hotel called Mynydd Ednyfed, and asked to have their couples portraits on Criccieth beach.
The wedding day itself was beautiful, despite it being a scorcher of a day everyone was in good spirits. Rob, Michelle and I set off at the start of 'golden hour' for our beach adventure, first stopping in a field full of long grass at the end of Mynydd...
Mark & Kerry | Wedding Photography Ormskirk
Kerry and Mark's wedding day was one of true beauty. The sun was shining, and all family and friends looked thrilled to be there with the lovely couple... as was I! I first met up with Mark and Kerry a couple months ago for their pre wedding shoot in the gorgeous fields near where they later got married. It was a true pleasure to work with them then, and on their wedding day.
Mark and Kerry, a HUGE congratulations to you both again! I hope you have a long and happy life together as husband and wife! Here are just a few favourite highlights from...
Peckforton Castle Wedding Photographer Cheshire
I love this time of year. I'm absolutely swamped with weddings, but I adore every second of it. One thing that's difficult is having a number of weddings requiring editing at the same time, when all I want to do is share them all as soon as possible! So it is this impatience that has encouraged me to share another teaser sneak peek from Abby and Shaun's stunning wedding at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire a few weeks ago.
During the evening reception in the Castle, I set up my off camera flash guns to light the white dance floor which had sparkling...
I'll be honest with you. I've been feeling a bit lost recently with my photography. It feels like a huge thing, as it is such a large part of who I am now. Where do I fit in? I'm documentary without being documentary. I'm fine art without quite being fine art. What IS my style? Am I consistent enough? What should I try and be?
After not knowing what to do, I came to realise something: Why do I need to change anything? I am obviously doing something right, I have been blessed with more clients than I need, and they are always over the moon with their photos. Why spend endless time trying to conform...
Rachel & Chris | Sefton Park Wedding Photography Liverpool
Chris and Rachel's lovely wedding day in Sefton Park, Liverpool was one packed full of personal touches. I have to say, it was the first time I've ever had a bride walk down the aisle to a church organ which was playing a few bars from a Star Wars song! During her morning preparations, Rachel had the most beautiful shoes which were hand painted with a scene from Mario, their cake was the most spectacular Mario theme with the characters Princess Peach and Mario on the top to represent Rachel and Chris.
Besides the beautiful details,...
