Some people you meet leave a lasting impression, and Paul and Debbie certainly did that! I knew when I first received their wedding enquiry that it was going to be an interesting one. Their wedding venue of choice is the stunning Portmeirion in Wales. I've been there a couple times before, so I know working there as a wedding photographer is going to be fantastic. The buildings and scenery are spectacular, whatever the weather! If possible, I like to meet the couple at the wedding venue for their pre wedding shoot. This allows me to have a look around, and we can have an idea of the best places...
Last year I found the wonderful website and blog, The Wedding Community. It's a fantastic site for all wedding photographers, brides and grooms, and wedding suppliers. I saw they were running something called 'Picture of the Day' where photographers can submit a few images to the blog, and if picked, a picture will be featured on their site. I decided to submit just one image, and I was over the moon to be featured. I had never taken part in anything like this before, so I didn't expect much when all of the images from the month were put in the 'Picture of the Month' competition. To my shock...
In this modern society, it is the norm to receive your wedding and portrait photographs in digital files. This is incredibly beneficial, and practical. However, there is nothing quite like seeing your pictures in print, in front of you in a beautiful wedding album to treasure. I decided to order an example of one of the albums I offer my clients, so they can see for themselves the beauty of pictures in print.
I opened this package with much excitement, and I certainly was not disappointed with what I found! Inside the beautiful leather cover embossed with 'Karli Harrison Photography', some of my favourite...
2012 has come to an end, and wow, what a year it has been! I would like to say a massive thank you to all of my lovely clients. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you all, and I've loved capturing your wedding, engagement, family and newborn photographs. It's been so much fun!
Some of the many wedding venues I have worked at include Inglewood Manor, London's Kew Gardens, Isla Gladstone, West Tower, Linthwaite House Hotel, Hillbark Hotel and many more. I'm looking forward to what 2013 has to bring, it's going to be another exciting and action packed year! But until then, here's my top 20 favourite...
Alison and Scott’s wedding was a true pleasure to photograph. Their day was stylish, laid back and very them, and I’m so glad I was able to join them and capture their memories for them as their wedding photographer. We started off the day at Alison's Hair Salon called Meheanos in Blackburn, where Alison and a her bridesmaids were getting their hair and make-up done. I could tell how proud Alison's family are of her as she had built this business and worked so hard, and it had paid off. I certainly enjoyed the different environment to shoot her wedding photography bridal preparations, as there...
West Tower Wedding Photography
Mandy and Jamie’s wedding day took place at the gorgeous venue, West Tower. I was very excited to work as their wedding photographer as I had been to West Tower before and I know it’s a beautiful place to shoot wedding photography, both inside and out. Not only is the building a beautiful place for a wedding to take place, but the staff that work there are lovely too. You can have a beautiful venue, but it's the people that can really help make the day a much happier one. We were definitely well looked after (and well fed!) which made the day more pleasant...
I spend most of my time working as a wedding photographer, travelling all over the UK. But as many wedding photographers find, weddings seem to go through patches where you have loads together, then nothing for a few weeks or sometimes months. Usually in these quieter periods I get enquiries for Lifestyle family shoots and newborn sessions and I love it! It's such a refreshing change. I am still doing what I love, but mixing it up a bit.
My usual style for a lifestyle shoot is to take kids to a park and let them run around, laugh, and play. But obviously with a newborn session, taking the photographs...
The Wedding Community very kindly asked me to fill in a 'Getting to Know' feature. As a wedding photographer, I know how important it is for couples to make sure they know a little bit about their photographer before their big day.
Here's a few of the questions they asked me, please follow the link at the bottom to view the full article.
Can you remember how old you were when you took your first pictures?
I can recall the first time I held a SLR, I was 12 years old. I had all these creative ideas of what the pictures would look like, but when I had the film developed, I was gutted...
Lake District Wedding Photography, Linthwaite House Hotel
The 4th of June was the perfect day. It’s funny how looking back on it, it seemed like a dream. Trish and Rich chose the Linthwaite House Hotel in Cumbria to get married, and they couldn’t have chosen better! It’s a beautiful hotel with a stunning view and grounds. I first had a little taster of what the venue would be like when I met the couple for their engagement shoot, and I could see through the rain that it is a beautiful location for wedding photography. Thick woods, a little lake, hills in the distance. I knew it was going...
Lancashire Country House Hotel Wedding Photography
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of capturing Laura and Michael's wedding photography at Higher Trapp Country House Hotel in Burnley, Lancashire. The day was a lovely one, and even though the sun wasn't shining we all still had a beautiful day. It was a dry day, which allowed us to get some pictures outside in the gardens of the Country House Hotel. I had never had the privilege of shooting wedding photography at this particular venue before, and I was impressed with the gorgeous bridal suite. The large four poster bed was a perfect setting...
