Highland Wedding Ceremonies in Skye, Plockton and Upper Highlands
During a recent wedding I had the privilege of travelling up the Highlands of Scotland to photograph Mirena & James' special day in the stunning little village of Plockton. I had the chance to work with some lovely vendors such as Plockton Hotel, the celebrant Jo Royle and the Skye Piper Ally MacPherson. Working with a team of friendly and relaxed people can really add to a couple's wedding day.
There is something that really speaks to the heart about a wedding ceremony in nature, especially in the incredible Scotland....
Beth's Toddler Shoot Preston Family Photographer
Meet Beth and her gorgeous little family! She asked me to join them at their stunning house in Preston to capture photos of her little boy. Cute would be an understatement! He was fascinated with the outdoors, the moon and he just adores books.
It was a glorious sunny Autumn day for their chosen date of the shoot, where we were able to make the most of Beth and Sam's lovely garden. The sunlight looked ever so pretty highlighting the trees, leaves and back lighting the little family for their photos. It always adds a layer of magic to family...
Wedding Detail Photos Cumbria Wedding Photographer
One thing I enjoy so much about being a photographer is capturing the little details. Yes, the emotions are absolutely first priority along with the events of the day... but I also try and capture the little things around. During a wedding at bride prep I photograph the dress, shoes, flowers and sometimes the makeup to name a few items. At the ceremony venue I try and capture details of the building and gardens along with anything making the venue unique - flowers in the garden outside, details in the building and decor the bride and groom...
Mirena & James Plockton Wedding Photographer Highlands Photography
Where do I start with this one?! Mirena and James contacted me to ask if I would be up to travelling to the absolutely stunning Plockton in the Scottish Highlands for their wedding. Dream come true? Absolutely!!
They had their intimate wedding ceremony on a tiny tidal island in Plockton - a fishing village known as the Jewel of the Highlands. Despite the wet weather, the guests with umbrellas added to the intimate feel of the vows. Afterwards the sun actually came out and we had some gorgeous weather for their bride and groom...
Claire & Ged | Stockport Town Hall Wedding Photography
Meet the gorgeous Claire and Ged! They eloped to the impressive Stockport Town Hall in Stockport, along with their two witnesses. They wanted to have a tiny ceremony to keep things simple. It's always an honour to join a couple for a small ceremony.
Claire surprised Ged last minute with a photographer to capture some memories on the day, and she secretly booked the incredible staircase for photos after the ceremony. The bride and groom were able to relax after the formalities with a bottle of bubbly before moving on to their celebration...
Dave & Nicole | Lanark Wedding Photographer Scotland
Once in a while I shoot a wedding that feels extra special, and Dave and Nicole's gorgeous wedding in Lanark Scotland was one of those weddings for me! From the moment we first met, it felt like I'd known them forever. Spending the day with them was like joining friends, or even family! From start to finish they were lovely and relaxed, and so completely and utterly in love- it was a joy to capture.
Dave and Nicole had their wedding reception at The Strathaven Hotel in a beautifully decorated room with mood lighting and twinkly star...

Scottish Islands Wedding Photographer Scotland
Wedding photography is always an adventure! As much as each wedding is incredibly similar in how they work, many stay with me for their unique scenery, moments or qualities.
One place I love travelling to the most is Scotland. I end up there so many times a year, often taking my little family with me to go off and explore while I'm working. My Golden Retriever is always along with them for the ride! I've been to tiny islands, castles, coast line... despite how the weather turns out Scotland is always a beautiful place to go. The rain and cloud...
Black and White Wedding Photography Cheshire
Black and white photos are simply one of my favourite types of edit. There's something so special about the timeless quality, and there's nothing like a black and white image to really highlight emotion in the photographs! Sometimes the image simply jumps out at you, much more than it did in its original colour form.
Sometimes when I take a photo of a lovely moment full of emotion - the groom smiling at his bride, the mother of the bride crying - guests laughing so hard they nearly fall off their chair - there's something distracting about the photograph....
