Laughter. Tears. Joy. A touch of sadness. These are just a few of the emotions I have the pleasure of photographing working as a wedding photographer. In days gone past, photos would be incredibly posed. “Stop, look at me! Smile at the camera!” The problem with telling someone to smile is they often pull an awkward face, or maybe at the best of times pull a stiff smile.

I work as hard as I can to capture wedding days as beautifully and artistically as possible, but the most important key factor for me is to be in the right place at the right time to catch the natural emotions that weddings are usually packed full of. This is by no means an easy feat, and if you don’t press the shutter button instantly the emotion can be gone in a second.

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding in stunning Cumbria, and it was packed full of beautiful emotion. Here are just a couple of my favourite photographs. To me, this is what it’s all about. Simple, beautiful, full of emotion. If I can capture a few of these gems each wedding I shoot, I’ll feel that I’ve done my job well.
